NOTE: The administration team reserve the right to overrule any pre-stated tournament rules at any given point if deemed necessary.

General Tournament

Sign Up

By signing up to this tournament all participants agree that they have read and accept the Terms of Service (ToS) and the Privacy Policy.


Player Eligibility

This tournament is open to European players only.

This tournament is for non-professional players only.

Entrants must be 13 years or older and all entrants under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or guardian.

By signing up to this tournament players agree to adhere to the competition rules. EGL and Aston Villa FC reserve the right to remove players from the tournament if it is discovered that a player is below the age of 13 or has played Fortnite in any professional capacity.

Check In

Teams will not be required to check in for this tournament.


Tournament Schedule

The tournament round start times are as follows:

Round One 18:00 GMT

All further rounds are to be started as soon as the match fixture is available.

Restrictions

Players may not use a Keyboard/Mouse setup at any point during the tournament. Teams will be disqualified for playing with a Keyboard/Mouse setup and the player will be suspended. If your opponent is using a Keyboard/Mouse setup, record evidence to submit to the admin.

Match Settings


Matchmaking Region

The matchmaking region of every player has to be set to EU.


Best of 1

All matches are Best of 1 and are decided after one game.


Cross-Platform

This tournament is specifically set up for PlayStation 4 users only. Any players found to be playing on a different platform will be disqualified from the tournament and suspended. Proof must be provided if a team is found to be doing so.


Game Session Setup

The captain of the hosting team will host a public SQUAD game session. The hosting player will then invite their teammate and opponents to the game session and start matchmaking.


How To Win

The team with the most kills at the end of the game session will be awarded the win. If there is a tie in kills, we will use “life duration” time to determine a tie breaker. If both teams and all players survive to the end of the round, the team who achieved the final kill shall win the round.

Kill Frenzy


Teams will party up as a SQUAD with your opponents. The teams that have queued up together are NOT ALLOWED to contribute/cause the death of the player(s) they're competing against within that game.
Players caught doing so will be disqualified from their match.

Examples of sabotage include but are not limited to:

  • Breaking or weakening your opponent's built or non-built (a structure that they were using but did not build, e.g. someone else's structure, trees, buildings etc) structures or cover by any mean. Resulting in your opponent falling, losing cover or taking damage in any way shape or form.
  • Causing your opponents to miss shots or miss opportunities for advancing their scores in any way shape or form.
  • Building in-front of your opponent or boxing them in.
  • Using any type of vehicle to drive into your opponent.
  • Using one of the following against your opponent: Shockwave Grenade, Boogie Bomb, Impulse Grenade, Port-A-Fort, Chiller or Bouncer.

Examples of NONE sabotage include but are not limited to:

  • Kill stealing is NOT a form of sabotage.
  • Loot stealing is NOT a form of sabotage.
  • Following your opponent is NOT a form of sabotage.

Any claims of this happening must be submitted in video form and show all players usernames involved in the incident. Proof must be submitted either in the match dispute or through a ticket on the website. We will not accept screenshots in this case.

Matches

Server Issues

In the event of server issues arising, tournaments may be postponed or cancelled depending on the severity of the issue.

If the tournament is cancelled it will be announced on the EGL_Online twitter page and Discord channel. The tournament title will also be adjusted to reflect this outcome.


Incorrect Match Settings

It is the hosting team’s responsibility to ensure that the match settings are as outlined above in the Match Settings. If you notice that the host has the incorrect match settings, please record video proof of what is wrong, ensuring that the scores, time, incorrect rules and/or the players in the lobby are clearly visible (depending on the accusation) and then immediately report this to the admin.

In the instance that the hosting team have the correct match settings and you leave the game before it is completed, the team that did not leave will receive the win for that match.


Forfeits

In order for a team to forfeit, the opposing team must leave the match as soon as they have gathered evidence of the opposing team violating the tournament rules.

Teams will forfeit a round for the following reasons:

  • Leaving a match prior to it's completion and then failing to provide valid proof of the accusation against the opposing team.
  • Hosting a match with the incorrect Match Settings shown above.
  • Delaying a match by more than fifteen (15) minutes since receiving the match fixtures for that round.

Player Disconnections

If a player disconnects during the initial launch of a map, the map will be restarted from scratch. The initial launch is defined as the time before ANY points are scored by either team within the current map.

If a player disconnects after points have been scored by either team, the team with disconnection issues can continue playing with one player or forfeit the round.

If both teams disagree over when the player disconnection took place, video proof must be provided that shows the scores and time at which the disconnection took place, as well as the players in the lobby.


Match Delay

Matches must be played in their entirety unless both teams agree to delay the match. Maximum permitted time to delay a match is fifteen (15) minutes.

Failure to complete a match or report the scores within one (1) hour of receiving the match fixtures will result in disqualification for both teams due to inactivity.

Teams may not delay the match for more than fifteen (15) minutes between each round. If a team delays the start for longer than fifteen (15) minutes, the other team should report the scores in their favour and provide proof of the delay occurring.

The team that did not delay must provide video proof showing that this fifteen (15) minute delay did occur.

Rosters

Minimum & Maximum Players

When registering for a tournament, team captains must select the minimum number of players required to compete in that tournament, indicated on the tournament sign up module. Team captains will not be able to select more than the maximum number of players indicated on the tournament sign up module.


Player IDs

For this tournament, players must register their unique game account (found in the profile section) on their EGL profile. All Player IDs on a team’s roster must be 100% valid and accurate. Spelling, spaces and characters must be exact, but do not need to be case sensitive.

If your username is found to be incorrect this is strictly not allowed and will result in team disqualification. Inputting your email address instead of your unique username is strictly not allowed and will result in team disqualification.


Substitutes

Teams are not permitted to use a substitute at any point in a match. A substitute is defined as someone who is not listed on the Match Fixture page.

Roster Lock

Player IDs are stored when you enter a tournament, meaning that any changes made to a player's ID after they sign up for a tournament will not be updated on the roster. To avoid this change your username before signing up for a tournament or leave the tournament, change your game ID so that it is correct and then rejoin the tournament.


Player Eligibility

Only players listed on the Match Fixture page are eligible to play in tournament matches. It is both team's responsibility to verify the eligibility of all players playing in the match. If a team uses an ineligible player in a match they will forfeit the match the ineligible player participated in. Proof must be shown to support any claims of an ineligible player playing in a match.

If the opposing team has an ineligible player present, you must tell the opposing team to replace that player with an eligible player. You must have given the team the required fifteen (15) minutes from match start time to substitute their ineligible player(s). If the team does not substitute their ineligible player, please report the scores in your teams favour and provide proof of the ineligible player in the game lobby.

Reporting

Match Result

Both teams are responsible for reporting the result of a match. This can be done by clicking on the match fixture link found on the Match Fixture page.

Tournament brackets will be updated automatically once both teams have reported the match.

In the instance that only one team reports the match result, the result will automatically be confirmed after ten (10) minutes. Please do not contact support in this time as you will cancel the timer.

Disputed Result

In the instance that both teams report conflicting results, the match will be placed into dispute and will be handled by a member of staff.

Evidence

In the event of a dispute, the team that has disputed will be asked to provide proof of their accusation. Please see the Evidence Policy section below to find out what evidence is required.

If the disputing team is unable to provide valid evidence for the reason that they disputed, then their team will be removed from the tournament and will also receive a suspension due to disputing without valid reason/proof.

Hosting

Hosting

As this is a Battle Royale game played on dedicated servers, we don't formally distinguish between hosts for this tournament. Both teams should take the initiative to invite and/or message the other team about the game setup. Failure to do so can result in a forfeit.

No Shows

No Show

A team has fifteen (15) minutes to show up and be ready to start the match. Failure to do so will result in a forfeit.

No Show Proof

If you have reported a no-show and the opposing team has disputed, you must provide video evidence that you have invited all members of the opposing team to play prior to the fifteen (15) minute no-show deadline. Failure to do will result in the no-show claim being voided and both teams being made to play the round.

Behaviour, Fair Play & Punishments

Match Completion

Players must aim to complete all matches in which they play or are scheduled to play in the tournament, regardless of the circumstances. Any players that considered to have purposefully failed to complete a match may have disciplinary action taken against them.

Cheating

EGL and Aston Villa FC have a zero tolerance policy for cheating. Players caught cheating, glitching, or abusing in-game mechanics in anyway may be permanently banned from the EGL site and all future competitions.

Punishments

In instances where EGL and Aston Villa FC feel a player has broken, or attempted to break, the rules outlined on this page - or to gain an advantage through unfair play - then they may take punitive action. This could include expulsion from the tournament and a ban on participation in future events.

Retroactive Action

EGL and Aston Villa reserve the right to take retroactive action on any player should they feel necessary to do so. This includes withholding of any prizes won and removal from any events they qualified for as a result of any activity retroactive action has been taken on.

Collusion & Bribery

Collusion or bribery in any form, between one or more parties is strictly prohibited and any players suspected of it will be thoroughly investigated with any required action taken as a result.

Rude & Abusive Behaviour

All players are expected to behave in a respectful manner towards other individuals they encounter either directly or indirectly throughout the tournament.

Any player who uses, or is found to have used rude and/or abusive behaviour to another individual may face punitive action.

Reporting

If a player believes that an opponent has breached any of the behavioural or fair play rules outlined on this page then they must report the offending player, along with any supporting evidence, as soon as possible. This report will then be investigated by administrators any action required will be taken.

All conversations between users are not considered evidence. This includes, but is not limited to:

Private Messages
PSN Messages
XBL Messages
Skype Messages
Tweets
Direct Messages

Evidence that has been faked or tampered with in any way will not be accepted as valid. Anyone found to be providing fake proof will be permanently banned from competing on the website.

Evidence Requirements

When asked to provide evidence for the outcome of a match, all video and photographic evidence must clearly show the match score, time, players in the lobby and, if necessary, evidence of the rule violation of the opposing player.

Evidence that does not meet the above criteria will not be considered.


Uploading Evidence

All video evidence should be uploaded to an external website such as YouTube. Photographic evidence should be uploaded to an external website such as Imgur, Photobucket or Imageshack. The URL link to the individual evidence must be sent to an admin, along with a brief description of what the evidence shows.

Evidence that has been faked or tampered with in any way will not be accepted as valid. Anyone found to be providing fake proof will be permanently banned from competing on the website.
