Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Open April 9

Nintendo has officially confirmed pre-order details for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The console is set to launch on June 5 with a price tag of $449.99, and fans will be able to place their pre-orders starting Wednesday, April 9.

In the UK, pre-orders will open a day earlier on April 8. While Nintendo has yet to reveal the exact time pre-orders will go live, more details should be announced soon. Alongside the standard console, Nintendo will also offer a Mario Kart World bundle for $499.99, which includes additional content for an extra $50.

To prevent scalping, Nintendo has introduced new pre-order restrictions for those ordering directly through the company. To qualify, buyers must have been an active Nintendo Switch Online member for at least two years by March 31, 2025. Nintendo will also prioritize players who have logged significant playtime on the system, though specific criteria have not been detailed.

It’s unclear how other retailers will handle pre-orders, but Nintendo’s approach suggests it is taking steps to make sure real players get their hands on the new console.
