Marvel Rivals Competitive Mode Gets Brand-New Celestial Rank in Season 1
A brand-new elite Celestial rank is coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 1, alongside a significant reset to the competitive play system.
Season 1: Eternal Night Falls
Marvel Rivals has gone from strength to strength since its release in December 2024. The Overwatch 2 competitor is gearing up for a massive Season 1 launch titled Eternal Night Falls.
With new characters set to drop and major buffs and nerfs confirmed for existing heroes, there’s plenty to get excited about in this hero-shooter’s upcoming season.
New Rank Announcement
On January 7, Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong revealed exciting details about what to expect in Season 1, including the introduction of a brand-new elite rank: Celestial.
“In Season 1, we are introducing a brand new major rank, Celestial,” teased Zhiyong, before diving into specifics about the new ranking system.
Where Does Celestial Rank Place?
The Celestial rank will sit above Grandmaster but below Eternity. According to Zhiyong, the aim is “to provide a seamless experience for our top players.”
This makes Celestial the third-highest rank achievable in Marvel Rivals. Like other major ranks, it will consist of three divisions.
Season 1 Competitive Rank Resets
Zhiyong also explained how the Season 1 rank reset will work:
- Rank resets will be based on standings at the end of Season 0.
- Players should expect their ranking to drop by seven divisions. For instance, a player who finishes Season 0 at Platinum 1 will start Season 1 in Silver 2.
As one of the most prestigious rankings in Marvel Rivals, reaching Celestial rank will be a monumental challenge.
Conclusion
The introduction of the Celestial rank and the revamped competitive system signals an exciting new chapter for Marvel Rivals. Top players will face fierce competition as they strive for this elite achievement. Get ready for Season 1: Eternal Night Falls!
