Dragonball FighterZ is the newest fighting game on the circuit and EGL was right there to help it launch in the UK. The wildly popular anime franchise, which centres around Goku defending his adopted home of Earth against beings who want to destroy it, has been around for nearly 30 years.
EGL worked here in the UK to source a venue to behold a launch which would compliment a press launch evening with supplied catering and bar drinks as well as a fans launch for two of the following days. Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club, is one of London's iconic tourist spots and a befitting venue to add a little extra to a special launch.
Although the event was a launch of Dragonball FighterZ the concept was a celebration of all things Dragonball Z as retro consoles Super Nintendo and Playstation 1 all the way through to the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 were fitted with the game of their release from the Dragonball Universe. This allowed players to go through the ages of Dragonball to play the games that first got them hooked in the universe as well as test out the new release before anyone else.
As the press filtered away to write their reviews (read ours here), fans got their hands on the game for two days of action. The free play areas allowed a sold-out crowd to get some practice time in before the tournaments began and for casual fans to play with their friends. Tournaments were ran across the two days which saw school children, cosplayers and professional players try their hand at Dragonball FighterZ.
The event was rounded off with the crowd cheering on the Grand Final of the weekend as it went right down to the last game of the series, with the eventual winner walking away with a exclusive ‘press kit’ from Bandi Namco. The crowd then celebrated the winner, in traditional Dragonball Z style by performing a kamehameha aimed at stage!
